Let’s Manifest Together!

“Manifest” is a relatively new word for me – only in the past couple of years have I taken notice of that word and now it’s one of my favorites!

In the woo woo world it seems to mean to make things appear but the official definition is:  “display or show (a quality or feeling) by one’s acts or appearance; demonstrate.”

My left brain / right brain battle needs evidence of the meaning on both sides.  To me it means when you want something and then you make it happen.

Before I even knew what the word was, I realized I was able to manifest some crazy things.  The way I see it is like this:

  • You start with a strong desire for something
  • You think about it as if it’s already happened – almost to an obsessive point but in a joyful way
  • You take inspired action because you believe it’s going to happen
  • Crazy coincidences happen along the way
  • Your desire is manifested!

Sounds fun, right?  Here are 2 favorite examples from my own life:

Back in 2008 when we were living in FL I made the final decision that we were going to finally move back home to NY – NO MATTER WHAT!  I did everything in preparation – found a realtor to sell our house, painted, staged and packed up our house for moving,  and a million other things along the way.  I was completely unstoppable!  Within a couple of weeks of having our house up for sale, we got a cash buyer AND a 3 bedroom apartment became available in my sister’s building back in NY for us to move into.  Amazing!

NYC

My second favorite story was a couple of years ago when I decided I wanted to be in my first NYC gallery show for my photography work.   I joined a program with B&H Photo for portfolio development with the hopes of my work being chosen for the gallery show.  The program lasted about 6 months and I took all the steps necessary that were part of the program.  The photo shoots that I did at that time were my most creative and most fun to date.  Coincidentally, during that time I won a printer and a pack of the exact paper that I needed to print my work to submit to the gallery.  My work was selected and I had my first gallery show in NYC!

I love practicing my manifesting skills which is why I’m so excited for Denise Duffield Thomas‘ 5 Day Manifesting Challenge starting today!

let's manifest together!

She’s the owner of Lucky Bitch – she’s a manifesting queen especially when it comes to money.  I’m part of her money boot camp program and I’m also thrilled to be an affiliate!  She’s so down to earth and inspiring and I want more women to know about her and the amazing things she’s doing.

So, wanna join me in her manifesting challenge?  It will be so much fun to see what we come up with!

5 Benefits of Attending In Person Workshops

Last month I had a great experience photographing and attending an in person business workshop in the city (NYC) held by successful entrepreneur Chris Winfield.

Chris WInfield - Double Your Productivity

It’s so easy to get caught up in the comfort zone of sitting behind our computer, taking online workshops, challenges and courses but there’s definitely something to be said for actually being live with people!

Benefit sof attending in person workshops

This particular workshop was on the smaller more intimate side – about a dozen or so people in attendance.  There are definitely benefits to both large scale and intimate events but for the purpose of this post I’m focusing on the smaller ones and what I liked about this workshop in particular.  It definitely had elements that I would look for in future workshops that I would attend.

1 – Intimate, Inviting Location

Chris WInfield - Double Your Productivity

I’ve attended large scale events in the past with thousands of people in attendance, in venues like stadiums.  They’re large, crowded, usually freezing and there’s no real personal connection.  This workshop was held in a brownstone.  The setting was warm, homey and inviting  – like being in your friend’s living room!  It immediately put me at ease.

2 – Someone To Eat With

Chris WInfield - Double Your Productivity

When the events start in the morning, who has time for breakfast beforehand or that dreaded time when you break for lunch and you don’t have anyone to go with.  Awkward!!!   On top of that, not knowing where to go.  You waste your time walking the neighborhood looking for a place to eat ALONE only to be disappointed with your selection.  Here both breakfast and lunch were provided!

When we arrived in the morning we were welcomed with fruit, muffins coffee and juice and it was a great way for everyone to break the ice and get to know one another.

At lunch everyone sat TOGETHER around the table and continued the conversation from what we discussed in the first part of the workshop.

3 – Attendee Participation

How many times have you attended a workshop where it was lecture style and even though the topic was interesting, you had to do everything in your power not to fall asleep?  Come on – I can’t be the only one who this happens to!  This workshop was very hands on and interactive.  Everyone had a chance to speak and we were given real time exercises that we worked on right there so we were able to get feedback right away.

4 – Accessibility

Chris WInfield - Double Your Productivity

Because it was a paid workshop, it attracted a certain level of people.  I think it’s such a benefit to put yourself in situations where people are more successful than you.  There’s so much to learn!!  Besides the obvious of what you get from the workshop leader, having access to the other attendees, hearing their stories and their conversations about their businesses are priceless!  Just hearing their tactics and seeing how they think was really eye opening!

Chris made himself available to everyone as well.

I was able to sit with him one on one and brainstorm some of my ideas and it was great to get feedback and a different way to look at things.  Sometimes we’re too close to an idea that we can’t see the big picture.

5 – Expanding Your Network

Another benefit which may not seem as obvious it to be able to expand your network.  I know for me I love to be able to make connections for people.

Chris WInfield - Double Your Productivity

For example it was beneficial for me to meet the videographer (Darvinder) at this workshop because as a photographer I’m frequently asked for videographer recommendations. It’s a double win because I get to refer business to someone that I know does a great job and for my clients I become a resource and make their lives easier.

To get an idea of the wide variety of people and businesses Chris’ workshop attracts, check out this list partial list of attendees:

Selena Soo – Publicity and Business Strategist

Todd Herman – High Performance Coach

Mariah Coz – owner of Femtrepreneur – teaching people how to create online courses

Michael Roderick – CEO and Co Founder of Small Pond Enterprises LLC

Evangelia Stavros Leclaire – owner of Ready Set Rock Academy – career coach to millennial moms and moms to be

Alexis Fedor, Founder of Artists in Business

Hey!  Guess What!?!

If you’re interested in attending a workshop like this, you’re in luck.  Chris is doing another one April 1st!

Easy Recipe: Cauliflower Fried Rice With Vegetables

As much as we love to spend time on our businesses, as moms we also need to feed our families – or so I’m told on a daily basis from my girls! 🙂

We’ve been doing family dinners  from day 1 so my girls have certain expectations when it comes to dinner.   A bowl of cereal just isn’t going to cut it in our home!  Lucky for them I LIKE to cook but during the week I try and find easier recipes.

I’ve been seeing this dish make it’s way around the internet and I finally thought – OK – let me try this!  It sounds good and easy so why not?!?

Cauliflower Fried Rice

So the thing with this dish is the “rice” is actually cauliflower!  There is no actual rice but because of the texture and the taste, your brain is tricked into thinking it’s rice.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 diced onion
  • 1 clove chopped garlic
  • about 1/2 inch of freshly grated ginger
  • 1 head cauliflower chopped finely
  • soy sauce
  • kosher salt (to taste)
  • 1 bag frozen mixed vegetables
  • 1 scrambled egg
  • 2 chopped scallions
  • Canola Oil

Here are the steps:

  • Prep all the vegetables
    • Dice the onion, grate the ginger, chop the garlic
    • Clean and chop 2 scallions.
    • Wash and chop the cauliflower into tiny pieces – you can either do this by hand or in a food processor
  • Saute the onion, garlic and ginger in a pan with some Canola oil
  • When the onion gets translucent mix in the cauliflower and cook for a few minutes
  • In a separate pan cook a scrambled egg
  • Add a bag of frozen mixed vegetables to the cauliflower mixture and cook for a few minutes.
  • Add in some soy sauce – do a little at a time and keep tasting to see if it’s enough flavor
  • Add kosher salt to taste – remember the soy sauce is already salty
  • To the cauliflower mixture, mix in the scrambled egg and scallions.

You’re done!

Have you jumped on the cauliflower bandwagon yet?
